Thanksgiving Weekend Update: Food, Knitting and Fun
Going home to hang out with my sister for Thanksgiving proved to full of fun, food, and waaay too many cupcakes. We couldn’t wait for Thanksgiving before digging into some cupcakes from Sprinkles. We tried the red velvet (always my favorite), chocolate with vanilla frosting, maple sugar, and pumpkin spice. While all were good, my must-haves were the red velvet and chocolate; I’m a sucker for the conventional flavors. We got 2 boxes of 4 each, and by the time Thanksgiving rolled around, we had only 1 box left. I quickly took a picture before digging into them too :)
For the long-awaited dinner, I made an Herbs de Provence roasted chicken using a recipe I got from another tumblr blogger From Me To You. I served it with some New England Style Dressing, cream biscuits, and a green bean casserole my sister made. Dinner was so yummy and was the best Thanksgiving meal I could have asked for.
You might wonder why my dinner platter doesn’t include the biscuits or the dressing. We devoured almost all the dressing while the chicken was finishing up in the oven so I literally had no room in my stomach to eat more of it, and we ate into the biscuits after :)
While visiting my family I also got the chance to finally finish the leaf lace scarf for my mom’s Christmas present. The kitchener stitch graft was awesome to learn, but I can definitely use more practice with it in the future. The scarf was fun to make, but at 600 yards was tickling my patience. I think I’ll fare better with smaller projects when it comes to knitted accessories in the future.
